*update : well thats one way to meet the neighbours..dude just came to my door with the note asking if i could point him to where exactly his bike is... confused me some as i thought i already rescued the bike and put it back at the flat...turns out that bike wasnt his... soo we went back to the bridge and fished 2 more out..including his.. turns out the third bike belongs to 2 houses down from me..dude called samir..saw us dragging the bike past the house and ran out to find out where we found it as he’d been looking for it half the night
Now it’s light I can see where it is
There left a note on the saddle in case the owner has questions
Welp done my good deed for the day...now I can run over a granny in the no bike zone and not feel bad about it

Fish on.
My good deed for the day will be plowing the neighbor’s driveways. We woke up to a lot of fresh snow.

Doesn’t look bad all things considered. Lube/grease everything and maybe replace the cables and it might pull through.

rear wheel probably aint straight no more... it was bashing into the lock quite a lot when they ran off with it...dunno how much of the other damage was already there...
lucky they chucked it near the side...probably wouldnt have been able to fish it out of the deep part

So, in the time between you fishing it out, and the guy finding the note, some jackwagon threw it back in the water?
What the hell is wrong with people!?!

Some people just want to watch the world burn. One time, in college, I went outside to find my bike tires slashed and my speedometer ripped off and stomped on. The weird thing is no other bikes were damaged. I did have a small pro-choice sticker that I got from the health clinic, so I guess that was what set someone off.
But in this case, it seems like there was no motive at all.

just dumb bored kids....least thats what it looked like to me
sad that a pro choice sticker would set someone off... guess not all that surprising tho..

Oops, I know those wheel locks are convenient, but maybe it would be worth getting some locks that actually lock to something instead of just immobilizing the bike.

Bet they just kick the wheel straighter and loosen the brake release. Or get drunk and ride it as is for a year or so. Why go to any trouble effecting a proper repair.

50/50 i guess
the dude that came to my door was pretty upset and probably will get his bike fixed right...i guess its his primary transport
but yeah..if they also have a car and just use it as a city run about odds are it wont be fixed if its still rideable

That comment was more about you. Or my impression of your admirable lack of fucks given towards wheel problems.
Jokes aside, I understand their distress. Might be worth baiting the little punks into a trap. Something tells me the thrill will overcome wariness if they see a bike left unattended.
